Anyone seen the Barack Obama iPhone App?

Obama iPhone App

Obama iPhone App

That’s right folks – the presidential campaign has just stepped up a notch with the addition of Obama’s new iPhone App!

The application is of course free & goes under the name of ‘Obama 08: The Official iPhone Application’.

Some of the features include browsing images, videos and propaganda from the Obama campaign, and the ability to scan your personal phonebook for friends in states where Obama ‘needs more support’! (Cool huh?… Well, unless your a McCain Fry!)

Oh, and lest I forget – the ‘Donate’ option…

iPhone App – iGolf

iGolf

iGolf

If you’re short on cash at the moment, then here’s a nice little feebie for your iPhone: iGolf.

Go and get it here

So far it has been a very successful app, racking up 500,000 downloads in it’s first week (partly down to the fact that it is free of course).

It makes good use of the iPhone’s accelerometer when taking your shots – very neat indeed.

Check it out – what’s it gonna cost you?

iPhone App: PocketGuitar

Now, I normally only post one cool app a day, but this one just couldn’t wait! Before I say anything else, here’s a video of some guy playing ‘Nothing Else Matters’ on the iPhone…

First of all, if you are not a Metallica fan, don’t worry, just think about playing YOUR favourite song on you iPhone.

Right, onto business… HOW COOOOOOL IS THAT!!!!!!!!!!! I have got to say, without parallel – this is theeee best iPhone App I have ever seen! Now, that is partly down to the fact that I play the guitar, but even if you don’t you’ve got to want to have a crack at this! I’m just waiting for a drum version too, then a keyboard… you could make you own little iPhone band! ‘The iPhone Rockers!’

I’m shouting out to all you iPhone App developers out there – pleeeeease make me a PocketDrumKit & PocketKeyboard! I can honestly say, they would be the biggest selling apps! Just look at how RockBand on the XBox and GuitarHero on the PlayStation have taken off…

I’ve already decided – next month, instead of getting Star Wars The Force, I’ll be getting my very own PocketGuitar! Roll on the end of the month!!!

Get it here – Enjoy!

iPhone Game: Sega Super Monkey Ball

Sega Super Monkey Ball

Sega Super Monkey Ball

If you haven’t played this yet – go and get it!

Super Monkey Ball by Sega is a novel game. You control the game simply by tilting the phone – cool huh?

The are 100-plus levels in Super Monkey Ball & beating themis no easy task! Download this game & you will still be playing it (trying to beat it!!!) in weeks to come! It is made even harder by the fact that you have to complete 10 levels in a row before you can save your progress! It’s very annoying, but also makes for a challenging game!

The game’s visuals are nice and sharp, and the sound effects are fine (as long as you don’t mind the constant screeching of monkeys plummeting to their doom…)

All in all it is a very good game. I recommend it to everyone!

iPhone App MailWrangler banned from iPhone App Store

Anyone remember PodCaster? Probably not as Apple banned it because it let people download podcasts directly to their iPhone without going through iTunes – from the App Store!

What about NetShare? Maybe not because that application allowed the iPhone to be tethered (used as a wireless modem), encouraging some users to jailbreak (enable unofficial application installations) their phones and install the easy-to-use iPhoneModem tethering tool. Guess what… Apple banned that one too!

Well, they’ve done it again! Yet another useful app has been banned, this time because it is too similar to the built in iPhone Mail app.

MailWrangler, by Angelo DiNardi, allows users to add and access multiple Gmail accounts, simply directly loading and showing Gmail inside of an application. MailWrangler also lets users see threaded views and Google contacts, archive (quickly), star messages and get more functionality missing from Apple’s Mail app.

As an iPhone user, I am annoyed that I cannot get the best applications for my iPhone, just the ones developed by Apple (unless it turns your iPhone into a glowstick – really useful!!!).

What do you think about this?

iPhone App: Earthscape – get it while it’s free!!!

Earthscape free on iPhone

Earthscape free on iPhone

STOP PRESS!!! For a limited time, Earthscape is FREE (yes, free) on the Apple iPhone!

Let me just start by saying – GET IT NOW WHILE IT’S FREE!!!

If you don’t know much about Earthscape, here’s a quick rundown:

Earthscape is an iPhone application that brings Google Earth to the iPhone. If your not familiar with Googke Earth (phew.. why are you reading this), then here’s a quick rundown:

Google Earth (as seen on the image, left) displays the Earth on your screen. You can spin it around and zoom in to specific locations. On the iPhone, it shows where you are based on your GPS coordinates, highlights locations with Wikipedia entries (and lets you read those entries as well) and flickr photos. Users can also take their own photos and add them to the application’s database. (See video below for more)

Aweseome or what!?! And best of all, it has been reduced from $10 to $0, zilch, zero, nothing… completely free!

This is only for a limited time, so don’t dilly dally! I’ve got mine – have you got yours…?

Here’s a demo of it in action:

iPhone App: X-Plane 9 Flight Simulator

Laminar Research has released a ‘mini-version’ of its hugely popular, realtime physics-based flight simulator X-Plane 9 for the iPhone (and iPod touch). How cool!!! I loved that game & now I get to play it on my iPhone!

I’m so glad that software developers have seen the potential of the iPhone. So many times in years past have we had great consoles (as in the hardware) but the software developers failed to produce anything of merit & so the console just disappeared into nothingness.

Not that the iPhone has to rely on games. It would still be hugely popular without, but when X-Plane 9 gets released on the iPhone…well, it’s just the icing on the cake!!!

Sorry, can’t talk anymore. I’ve got a flight sim to go and play…
